シカゴ発!高速でアグレッシヴな足技を中心とした新種のストリート・ダンスとして広がりを見せるフットワーク。シーンの最前線を突っ走るキング・チャールズ、そしてロブ、2人の世界的トップ・フットワーカー/ダンサーがBattle Train Tokyoに合流!
シカゴ・ハウスを源泉にまさにそのシカゴのローカル・シーンで独自の進化を続け高速化した音楽フォーム「ジューク」が、足技に重きを置いたダンス・スタイルと密接に関連し、低音と三連譜などトリッキーなリズムが強調され「フットワーク」という音楽/ダンス・カルチャーとして各地に拡散。この国でもさまざまなイヴェント/パーティー/ワークショップなどが開催されるなか、Battle Train Tokyo(BTT)はBPM160のジューク/フットワーク・トラック上でさまざまなダンサーたちがそのルーツやスタイル、世代や性別などを超えて競い合えるオープンなダンス・バトルの場として、東京の老舗ライブハウスLIQUIDROOMの2階で展開されるギャラリーKATAと、それに隣接のTime Out Cafe & Dinerにてこの国のジューク/フットワーク・シーンを支えるDJやトラックメーカー、フットワーカーたちとともにさらなるダンス/音楽シーンの燃焼と循環を目指し奮闘中。フットワーク/ダンスの普及を目的としたエクササイズ・ライン、Battle Train Tokyo Express(BTTE)も同会場にて毎月第一月曜日に開催中。
Battle Train Tokyo (BTT) is a dance event/party held at KATA, a venue/gallery on the 2nd floor of renowned Ebisu LIQUIDROOM supporting the Japanese Juke/Footwork scene. Juke/Footwork has its roots in Chicago, the birthplace of House music. After House has spread to the world, it continued to evolve in its hometown and it has become much faster (BPM160) with emphasis on intense bass and tricky triplet rhythms. Along with the music, the dance style has evolved and the Chicago Footwork dance with super-fast lower body movement was born. Together with Japans top Juke/Footwork DJs, producers, and Footwork dancers, BTT aims to gather dancers of all styles, ages, and gender and give them a place to compete and practice the Footwork dance. The Battle Train Tokyo dance tournament is held occasionally, and Battle Train Tokyo EXPRESS (aka Footwork DOJO) practice sessions with lessons taught by Japan’s top Footworkers are held every 1st Monday of the month starting at 7PM. BTT Lounge is held at Time Out Cafe & Diner right next to KATA for each BTT event, and guest DJs of various genres are invited to provide a relaxing atmosphere for the dancers and guests.

・バトルは個人戦のみ、先攻後攻それぞれ2セット(1バトル5分ほど)になります。
・ダンス・スタイル不問。バトル時の選曲はBPM160のジューク/フットワーク・トラックのみとなります。
・ジャッジはキング・チャールズが行います。
・エントリー多数の場合、サークル・バトルでの予選を実施致します。
・エントリーは件名を「9.20 BTT EXTRA entry」として、ネーム表記と連絡先(氏名/電話番号)を entry@liquidroom.net までメールにてお送りください。なお、お送りいただきました個人情報は今回の「BTT EXTRA」に関わる目的にのみ使用し、他の目的には使用致しません。

キング・チャールズはシカゴフットワークを得意とするシカゴ出身のダンサー/コレオグラファー(振付師)。下半身と脚部の動き中心とするエネルギーに満ち溢れたフットワークダンスはハウスやジューク等シカゴ原産のダンスミュージックと共に踊られてきて、現在はBPM160～170というJuke/Footworkの高速ビートに乗せて世界中に広まってきている。チャールズは若干15歳でKing of Footworkの栄冠を手にし、以来実力派ハウス/ヒップホップダンサーとして世界中で名を広めてきた。
チャールズは世界的に有名なプロフェッショナルフットワーククルー”FootworKINGz”のオリジナルメンバー及びアーティスティックディレクターを務め、在任中は本人及びメンバーの抜きんでた才能とスキルをリードし、まだあまり知られていなかったフットワークダンスを多くの人々に届けることに成功した。チャールズはFootworKINGzと共にアメリカの有名テレビ番組”America’s Best Dance Crew”や”America’s Got Talent”にも出演を果たすなど数々の輝かしい実績を残している。チャールズはシカゴトップクラスのフットワーククルー”Creation”の設立者でもある。
現在はチャールズは自分の得意とするフットワークダンスとその文化、そして知識を広める為に世界中を回っている。数々のパフォーマンスやショーでの経験を活かし世界各地の有名ダンスバトルに参戦及びジャッジとして参加したり、ミュージックビデオ、テレビ、映画などの映像作品における振付を担当したりとその活動は多岐にわたる。また、ダンス講師としても非常に高名であり、フランスの有名アーティストJuste Deboutの専属講師としてパリで指導した経験がある他、ロンドン、ロシア、スウェーデン、ノルウェー、フィンランド、そしてここ日本でも指導経験を持つ。経歴としてはマドンナの”Sticky & Sweet”ワールドツアーの専属ダンサーとして世界中を共に回った他、俳優ウィル・スミスの娘でもあるアーティストWillow Smithの”Fireball”のミュージックビデオや全米トップクラスのアワードTeen Choice Awards 2011にブラック・アイド・ピーズのメンバーとしても世界的に有名なWill-I-AMと共に踊ったり、Katy Perryのグラミー賞のステージのコレオグラファーも担当した、まさにトップダンサー/コレオグラファーである。
近年では全米ミュージックビデオプロダクション協会でC2Cの楽曲”Happy”の振付が最優秀コレオグラフィー賞にノミネートされたり、スポーツブランドPumaのダンス・ディクショナリー・キャンペーンに出演し、陸上金メダリスト、ウサイン・ボルトがチャールズのダンスを賞賛するなど更なる飛躍を続けている。
キング・チャールズはシカゴフットワークのダンスとカルチャーを更に世界に広め、リスペクトを集めることに注力しており、世界中のダンサーにフットワークこそが”The Future of Dance”(ダンスの未来)であるということを伝えるべく活動を続ける。
Chicago dancer/choreographer King Charles (KC) specializes in Chicago Footwork, a dance style originating in Charles’ native city. This style is a high energy, lower body movement historically danced to House & Juke music reaching tempos of up to 160-170 bpm. Charles was crowned as the King of Footwork at age 15 and has developed into a strong House/Hip Hop Dancer.
KC is the Former Artistic Director and original member of the world reknown FootworKINGz (FWK) professional dance ensemble. The company has gained recognition for their exceptional talent and skill and are now sharing this once unknown style with the masses. FWK has been featured on major t.v. shows such as America’s Best Dance Crew and America’s Got Talent.
King Charles travels the world sharing his art, knowledge and talent. He battles/judges on the international circuit and has a wealth of performance and choreography experience in shows, music videos, film and television. King Charles is a well established teacher who has taught at Juste Debout in Paris, London, Russia, Sweden, Oslo, Finland, Japan and more. His music video and live performance credits include Madonna’s “Sticky & Sweet” World Tour, Willow Smith’s “Fireball” video, Teen Choice Awards 2011 with Will I AM and Co-Choreography for Katie Perry on the Grammy’s.
KC’s most recent appearances include a viral campaign for Puma’s Dance Dictionary including a clip of Usain Bolt expressing his admiration for King Charles. He was also recently nominated for by the Music Video Production Association for Best Choreography in a music video for C2C’s “Happy.”
King Charles goal for Chicago Footwork is to make the world respect his culture and to show every dancer that this style is the Future of dance.

ロブ・オブ・クリエーションはシカゴ以外の出身の新世代フットワークダンサーの一人。14歳の時にダンスを始めた彼は大学生の頃に日本に一年留学した際に日本のストリートダンスチームの情熱とスキル、そして練習法に感銘を受け、アメリカに戻り日本のアメリカと微妙に異なる双方の動きや練習スタイルを取り入れて活動していくことを決意した。
2011年にダンスを専攻し学んでいたアイオワ大学を卒業するとロブはプロのダンサーとしてのキャリアをスタートさせる為、アイオワからロサンゼルスまで1,600キロ以上車を走らせた。LAでキング・チャールズと出会い彼に弟子入りし、およそ8ヶ月間のプライベートレッスンを受けた後にチャールズがリーダーを務めるCreationクルーにLA支部の初期メンバーとして加入を許される。
Creation加入以降ロブはフットワークのダンス、カルチャー、そして知識を広めるべく活動を続けてきた。現在はフットワークダンスの基礎と歴史を中心に世界中のフットワークに興味を持った初心者たちに教えている。初の白人フットワークダンサーとして、そして数少ないシカゴ以外の出身のフットワーカーとしての自覚をもち普及活動、そしてダンスバトル参戦を続けるロブはシカゴフットワークダンスとカルチャーを更に世界中に広めるべく注力を続ける。
Rob of Creation (RoC) is one of the first of a new generation of Footworkers that come from outside of Chicago.He began dancing at the age of 14, but did not seriously devote himself to dance until he spent a year studying overseas in Japan. Upon entering the Kanda University of International Studies in Makuhari, Japan, he joined the university street dance circle and over the course of a year became inspired by the intense dedication, discipline, and skill of Japanese dancers. When he returned to the United States he made the decision to devote himself to dance.
After graduating from the University of Iowa in 2011 with a degree in Dance, RoC drove over a thousand miles from his home state of Iowa to Los Angeles, California to pursue a dance career. In a chance meeting with King Charles, RoC began taking private lessons in Chicago Footwork, and after 8 months battled to become one of the founding members of the Los Angeles chapter of Creation, King Charles’ crew.
Since joining Creation RoC has worked very hard to spread knowledge of his adopted culture. When he is not training in Footwork he is teaching the fundamentals and history of Chicago Footwork to newcomers from all over the world. As the first white person to learn and practice Chicago Footwork, and the first outsider to ever battle a native Chicago Footworker using Footwork, he feels it is his responsibility to contribute to an art and a culture that have given him so much and looks forward to the day when Chicago Footwork takes its rightful place in the world of street dance.
